La costumbre moderna de los ciudadanos de las grandes ciudades de atravesar los pasiajes urbanos oyendo música de sus audífonos para aligerar la conmutación diaria o simplemente para crear una nueva dimensión a su trayecto hizo que Tyler Cullen ideara el sencillo pero revelador proyecto de “What Song Are You Listening To?” en las calles de Nueva York y el cual ha sido replicado en distintas ciudades del mundo. Al preguntarle a los transéuntes qué música están oyendo no sólo sabemos un dato –la canción– recibimos información de cómo son y por un momento entramos a su mente y caminamos por la ciudad desde su perspectiva. Por otra parte inevitablemente empezamos a jugar el juego de los estereotipos a través de los estereogramas: cuando una persona responde tal música y encaja con su forma de vistir, su sexo y clase social, empezamos a conectar los puntos de los lugares comunes y las suposiciones, empatando tribus musicales.

Curiosamente es Burial, el elusivo maestro del Dubstep, uno de los pocos artistas cuya música se repite, en Londres y en Buenos Aires, ciertamente una compañía estimulante para hacer una de las más enriquecedoras que tiene la vida moderna, camina por las ciudades y observar a la gente, la luz, la arquitectura, la red de signos que van construyendo nuestra imagen del mundo y se convierten en parte de nosotros: en un crisol ambulante.
